Wow—Topsail Island was absolutely lit last night, and I mean that literally. Even though the Town of Surf City officially shoots off fireworks on July 3rd each year, that didn’t stop the locals (and maybe a few enthusiastic vacationers) from putting on their own dazzling displays all up and down the island.
I had my camera ready, set up in a spot with a clear view of Surf City Pier. As the sun dipped below the horizon and the sky darkened, the first pops of color cracked above the dunes. One burst after another reflected off the water, lighting up the faces of beach walkers and those perched on the pier like it was front row at a concert.
This image is more than just a photo; it’s a snapshot of Topsail’s community spirit, summer energy, and coastal charm. I’m glad I was there to create it.
